After breakfast, departure to VILLA SAN GIOVANNI and embarkation of clients and m/coach on the ferry to MESSINA (ticket for the ferry not included and to be paid directly on the spot by the driver). Upon arrival continuation in the surroundings of GIARDINI NAXOS/LETOJANNI. Accommodation in hotel, dinner and overnight.

 

After breakfast departure to TAORMINA for a half day guided visit of this town, well known as the "Ionic Pearl", for its beauty, its mild climate and its position on Mount Tauro. City and Greek-Roman theatre tour. Afternoon at disposal. Return to the hotel, dinner and overnight.

 

After breakfast departure to PALERMO. Upon arrival, half-day guided tour of PALERMO with its 12th century cathedral, that during the centuries was subjected to many changes and is therefore an example of the different dominations of Palermo, the Palatine Chapel, jewel of Byzantine art, the Norman Palace, today seat of the Sicilian Parliament, the church of S. Giovanni degli Eremiti, famous for its red cupola, example of Arabic architecture. In the afternoon visit to MONREALE with the beautiful cathedral and its wonderful gold mosaics and the annexed Benedictine Monastery. Return to the hotel, dinner and overnight.

 

After breakfast departure to AGRIGENTO. Upon arrival half-day guided visit of the Valle dei Templi with Juno, Concordia, Hercules, and Dioscuri temples. Then continuation of the journey to Caltanissetta and PIAZZA ARMERINA with a visit to the Roman "Villa del Casale" and its beautiful mosaic floor. Then continuation of the journey to CATANIA and time permitting short city tour with its Dome Square and Etna Road with its beautiful baroque churches. Catania was destroyed by the eruption of Etna in 1669 and was built again after the 1693 earthquake. Return to the hotel, dinner and overnight.

 

After breakfast departure for a day excursion in SYRACUSE, the biggest and most important Greek colony in Sicily. Upon arrival guided visit to the ruins inside Neapolis Park with its Greek theatre, Nero Altar, Roman Amphitheatre, the “Latomia” with Dionysus' Ear. Then tour of Ortigia, old city and small island with its cathedral and the Aretusa fountain. Return to the  hotel, dinner and overnight.

 

After breakfast departure for a half-day guided excursion to the ETNA (3.300 mt.), the biggest active volcano in Europe, going up to 1500 mt. to "Sapienza" refuge and, weather condition permitting, possibility to get into the south-east crater (2.900 mt.) by maxi-jeep and alpine guide (not included). Return to hotel and afternoon at disposal for shopping or relax. Return to the hotel, dinner and overnight.
